Davinci Resolve quits after welcome screen

Hi there,

I'm sure this is just a noob error happening, however, I can't pass the welcome screen on resolve, it just quits.

I'm almost a complete noob on linux, but I think it might be related to the nvidia drivers as it would run on my last instalation (I've added a Nvida Geforce 730 and switched to an SSD hence reinstalling the complete system).

Here is my system:

Thanks in advance

Re: Davinci Resolve quits after welcome screen

What is the output of the DR resolve checker script[1] ?

Does your system have an integrated intel gpu ?
If unsure, post lspci -k .

[1] https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Da … ve_Checker

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Re: Davinci Resolve quits after welcome screen

Is cuda installed? However seeing as this is a low end GPU it's likely CUDA support for it got dropped in more recent versions and you might be out of luck here and at least a cursory googler seems to confirm that: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/fo … ter-38871/ .

Presented GPUs:
GK208B [GeForce GT 730] (kernel driver in use: nvidia)
OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation

All seems good. You should be able to run DaVinci Resolve successfully.

all should work sad

Hope that is not the case...

It doesn't detect a GPU CUDA compatible but later on in the welcome screen I can choose it and all seems fine...

As for cuda Support I could use it in blender cycles so it must be working!?

Re: Davinci Resolve quits after welcome screen

Being a noob and just to be sure... Running "lspci -k" I get the following kernel modules:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK208B [GeForce GT 730] (rev a1)
Subsystem: ZOTAC International (MCO) Ltd. Device 730b
	Kernel driver in use: nvidia
	Kernel modules: nouveau, nvidia_drm, nvidia

As I understand I have the nouveau module in the kernel, however as it is blacklisted it is not loaded correct?

modprobe -c | grep nouveau

blacklist nouveau
alias pci:v000010DEd*sv*sd*bc03sc*i* nouveau
alias pci:v000012D2d*sv*sd*bc03sc*i* nouveau

Or may it be the reason for some confusion on the machine?

Re: Davinci Resolve quits after welcome screen

That's right nouveau isn't loaded just listed as a possible module

That script reads quite basic and just checks whether certain packages are installed without doing anything to verify actual functionality.

Is there a CUDA version listed when you check with nvidia-smi ? What does clinfo report?

Yes, CUDA Version: 11.2!

Can it be something related to the multimonitor setup?

Re: Davinci Resolve quits after welcome screen

It seems that after the latest update to resolve and to the kernel/nvidia drivers everything started to work yikes

Strangely enough even with everything working I get a warning saying: "Possibly missing firmware for module: nvidia"

Should I be worried about this warning? it seems that the GPU is fully working now , so it's kind of strange..

It seems like it´s a bug with some recent feature on NVIDIA drivers, There´s a thread about it but I´m unsure if you should follow the patch they suggested since I didn´t quite understand how it works, but here´s the link:
