terminology for netboot/pxeboot/nfs

Hi,

I'd like to configure a system like this:

1. 1x netboot/nfs server
2. 1x netboot/nfs client.

My initial problem seems to be one of terminology, in that there appears to be multiple methods of netboot install for various linuxen.

But no guide on how to have it permanent : in other words the client machine would not need to have a disk; it would run everything via NFS
and it would boot/get its config via tftp.

It's a problem with terminology because I don't know what the latter is properly[1] called. Can anyone help?

I don't think there are archlinux or linux specfic terms for that.

As general terms Diskless Workstation and Diskless Node come to mind.
(If the client included a disk, thin client would probably be the chosen term) .

thanks, will have a look at that.

is having say an arch server but ubuntu client practical?
