Just installed Arch Linux on VirtualBox. I created a shared folder and tried chmod the folder for user access. But after numerous chmod's, folder still cannot be accessed. What have i been doing wrong? I appreciate all the replies and help. Thank you everyone.

You're supposed to create a folder on the host, and then add that as a shared folder in VM settings, and then mount the folder from the VM.
As you make the folder on the host and run the VM on the host, presumably as the same user, then you shouldn't have to worry about file mode - you should have read and write rights already.
I see the Arch wiki isn't too specific about the process of creating a shared folder, but just do a search and you'll find lots of guides.
This one looks good: https://www.techrepublic.com/article/ho … irtualbox/

Glad to be of help :-)
If you edit your first post and change the title to start with [SOLVED] then it will be easier for others to see that the issue has a solution.
