I just set a windows share on my families computer, and have a direct connection to my laptop with archlinux. When sending or receiving files I only get up to 2mb/s for some reason..
* I have 100mbit cable
* It says 100mbit in windows traybar
* my hdd on the laptop is SATA 7200rpm..
* hdd on the stationary comp is SATA 7200rpm also..
Why is it that I only get around 10mbit speed?? Do you guys get higher speed on local network??

Are you mounting with cifs?

cifs? Whats that?
Eitherway i thought it could be a protocol thing, I set up a ftp server on the windows computer, and sending and receiving now works with 100mbit..
But still I cant understand why samba protocol only gives about 10mbits..

CIFS and DIFS is afair something like interframe spacing in the underlying network protocolls telling how much time to wait in a transmit scenario. This is commonly not used at all, unless several wireless units are trying are sharing the same air bandwidth and fail.
