I haven't done a system update in a couple weeks, and just performed one earlier today, via ´´sudo pacman -Syu´´
After reboot, I am getting a flashing underscore on screen, with no indication of what is wrong. After using ctrl+alt+F3 to log into console, and trying to start lightdm manually, it just goes to the flashing underscore, which tells me it must be something wrong with lightdm. I've been using kde, and have been meaning to switch to sddm, but never got around to it, so I downloaded sddm, and disabled lightdm.service, enabled sddm.service, and am having the same problem.

What was in the pacman update? Please also post the contents of the system journal for a boot with the issue.

There was about 525 updates. I cannot post journal, because I cannot log in, to go to firefox.

See pasterbin to redirect the output straight to a pastebin.
Edit:
The list of updated packages will be in /var/log/pacman.log

Hi, same issue with me, Nvidia?
Able to boot by adding ibt=off to kernel boot options. See here:

Yes, nvidia is always the cause of every problem I have on linux. I just did ``mkinitcpio -P`` and it is telling me ERROR: module not found: "nvidia". Along with "nvidia_drm" "nvidia_uvm" "nvidia_modeset"

Thanks for the info, however as I was saying, unless I can post pictures here from my phone, I cannot post log data

It looks like I need to reconfigure nvidia altogether. Was there an update recently that changed directories in kernal?

I linked you how to post output from the console in post #4. There were such kernel updates, I also noted how to find what was updated in my edit to that same post.

Yeah, That link is not helpful for me. Is there not any other way you can help me without needing to see the logs specifically?

Is networking broken on the system as well so you can not post to the pastebin?
What kernel is the system currently booting? `uname -a`
What nvidia packages are installed? `pacman -Qs nvidia`
If the system uses DKMS to build the nvidia modules what is the log of that failing for the last kernel update?

So, turns out I just needed to update my pacman database. Linux kernel was not updating. Pacman -Syyu fixed it for me.
