question about ssh proxies and OpenVPN

I run OpenVPN client to connect to a third-party vpn provider. If I create an ssh proxy on my LAN from my laptop to the machine connected to the vpn, will Socks 5 aware applications on my laptop make use of the vpn encryption?

Thanks.

Re: question about ssh proxies and OpenVPN

Every connection you made through the vpn will use the encryption provided by the vpn, even the socks proxy made through ssh.
You'll have one more nested encryption.
