how to set up a domain for my server

Hi, I'm pretty new to domains.

I've  got an old headless laptop which I ssh into and have a minecraft java server on it.
I own the domain silberkueste.ch.
It has the static ip address 192.168.0.40 which i configured from my router.

So I want to access the server from outside my network. It should preferably use my domain (doesn't have to!) and be free.
Is this what i am searching for?
or should i use a DNS? i haven't found any DNS that fullfills my needs.

That is not a public IP address, that is a local ip that only points to your system from within your lan.  You'd need to get a static IP address from your ISP, or use a dynamic-DNS service.

If you actually had a static IP address, all you'd need to do is log in to the registrar or service through which you purchased that domain name and point it to your static IP address.  If you need to use a dDNS, you'll do the same, but instead point it at the dDNS's name server.

And no, samba is not relevant here.  You need a dDNS.
