pacman: SSL connection timeout

I found that:

1. Without VPN: pacman -Syyu succeed

2. With VPN (transparent proxy): SSL connection timeout

$ sudo pacman -Syyu
:: Synchronizing package databases...
 core.db failed to download
error: failed retrieving file 'core.db' from opentuna.cn : SSL connection timeout
error: failed retrieving file 'core.db' from mirror.sjtu.edu.cn : SSL connection timeout
error: failed to synchronize all databases (download library error)
[ble: exit 1]

3. With VPN (transparent proxy+Prevent DNS Hijack Only): pacman -Syyu succeed

As I am a Chinese user inside GFW, I use VPN 7x24, so I need to find out why SSL connection timeout

I use v2ray+v2rayA and this issue is also posted on https://github.com/v2rayA/v2rayA/issues/997

Any help is welcome!

Write programs that do one thing and do it well.
Write programs to work together.
Write programs to handle text streams, because that is a universal interface.

Re: pacman: SSL connection timeout

You've been told to stop using mindless -Syyu before, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 5#p2053255

Have you tried other mirrors (outside china)?
I mean, you seem trying to VPN out of     Hundred Acre Wood and then back into the home of Winnie the Pooh. He might conceivably block you from coming to steal his honey (or whatever freaks that guy out…)
