[SELF-SOLVED] Unit dbus-org.freedesktop.resolve1.service not found.

On another machine (a new install), I get this running dhcpcd after starting a netctl profile:

> sudo dhcpcd wlan0
dhcpcd-10.0.2 starting
DUID 00:01:00:01:2c:76:bd:e7:e8:2a:ea:7b:81:3a
wlan0: connected to Access Point: SETUP-D74A
wlan0: IAID ea:7b:81:3a
wlan0: rebinding lease of 192.168.0.87
wlan0: leased 192.168.0.87 for 172800 seconds
wlan0: adding route to 192.168.0.0/24
wlan0: adding default route via 192.168.0.1
Dropped protocol specifier '.dhcp' from 'wlan0.dhcp'. Using 'wlan0' (ifindex=3).

…Sorry I can't be more helpful; I'm a bit mentally challenged when it comes to this kinda thing. But dhcpcd has never behaved this way with me.

Re: [SELF-SOLVED] Unit dbus-org.freedesktop.resolve1.service not found.

Oh nevermind, just needed to

systemctl start systemd-resolved.service

and

systemctl enable systemd-resolved.service

Never had to do that before. Don't mind me/

Re: [SELF-SOLVED] Unit dbus-org.freedesktop.resolve1.service not found.

As the journal indicates, the message is from resolveconf and means "yOu aRe nOt uSiNg rEsOlVeD"

pacman -Qo resolveconf

That's either gonna be https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/any/openresolv/ or https://archlinux.org/packages/core/x86 … esolvconf/ and given the spam, I bet your right arm on the latter.

Edit: F5**
You don't have to enable or use resolved at all, except if you actually intend to use it.
Otherwise install openresolv

Re: [SELF-SOLVED] Unit dbus-org.freedesktop.resolve1.service not found.

Now, I have some development. If I configure sddm to use DisplayServer=wayland, I will see sddm login again.
However, as I use xfce4 which poorly supports wayland, I get a mess when I log in.

THe trick would be to use DisplayServer=x11. However, that does not work. If I launch sddm-greeter manually to test a theme, it will say:
Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, wayland-egl, wayland, wayland-xcomposite-egl, wayland-xcomposite-glx, xcb.

That is, x11 is not there. Even if I do have x11 installed. I can even launch startx and inside of it startxfce4, and it works.

Re: [SELF-SOLVED] Unit dbus-org.freedesktop.resolve1.service not found.

X11 is xcb (xcb is an asynchronous implementation of X11 and libX11 actually uses it internally - don't ask wink

XFCE probbyl doesn't support wayland at all…
