[SOLVED] Weird images instead of sleep

Hello, after update of the system, I am getting some weird screen animations instead of proper computer sleep. I do not know if it is xfce screensaver but in the menu it is turned off:

This is how the weird animations look like:

It even runs with all programs closed apart from XFCE session I use.
Can you help me to identify what it can be and how to turn it off, so my computer can turn off display and lock after 10 minutes instead of this thing?

EDIT: it has probably somethung to do with xfce, as in i3 it does not happen

Re: [SOLVED] Weird images instead of sleep

local/libxss 1.2.4-1
    X11 Screen Saver extension library
local/xfce4-screensaver 4.18.2-1 (xfce4-goodies)
    Xfce Screensaver
local/xscreensaver 6.07-2
Screen saver and locker for the X Window System

This was the output of the command. Can it maybe be xscreensaver if it is sth else than xfce4-screensaver?

Re: [SOLVED] Weird images instead of sleep

I do not know. I turned off screensaver in xfce4 settings as mentioned here: https://i.imgur.com/AjFUB4s.png
I have never enabled any screensaver.
At the same time, I do not want to uninstall it because "xfce4-session optionally requires xscreensaver: for locking screen with xflock4"
I just want my system to lock and turn off display after 10 minutes

Re: [SOLVED] Weird images instead of sleep

1034 ? Ssl 0:00 \_ xfce4-session
…
1220 ? S 0:00 \_ xscreensaver -no-splash
   1232 ? S 0:00 \_ xscreensaver-systemd

so it's running and is somehow started by xfce4-session, possibly restoring the session. Configure it t ojust blank the screen instead of running some animation.

Re: [SOLVED] Weird images instead of sleep

Even setting up a screensaver to blank in menu does not solve it. It seems like this overrides the settings

Re: [SOLVED] Weird images instead of sleep

I'd recommend to temporarily uninstall and kill xscreensaver to ensure it's actually the cause and we're not chasing a wild goose.

Re: [SOLVED] Weird images instead of sleep

xfce4-session dependencies:

light-locker (optional) - for locking screen with xflock4
xfce4-screensaver (optional) - for locking screen with xflock4
xscreensaver (optional) - for locking screen with xflock4

You only need one of these.

If you want xfce4-screensaver then uninstall the others (and possibly reboot).

Re: [SOLVED] Weird images instead of sleep

Yes, getting rid of the xscreensaver would probably work. I have just disabled it though via: xset -s off

Re: [SOLVED] Weird images instead of sleep

I'm not sure xscreensaver actually depends on the X11 screensaver signal. Just don't run the daemon.
