Mounting disks and unmounting

Hi there, i know it's a newbie question but i got desktop with 2 disks. Now when i want to save data into the disk i have to unmount the 'data' disk before poweroff. Any tips how to overcome this problem?

ok i think i found the solution. sync option is needed, gonna test it tommorow. I am using a lot of virtual machines thats why i am asking about this stuff, data integrity is important in this case.
if it's bad idea, please give me some tips.
UUID=[uid] /[path] ext4 defaults,sync 0 2

What problem?
The drive gets unmounted with the shutdown anyway.
