wlroots0.16: /usr/lib/libwlroots.so.11 exists in filesystem

Just did a system upgrade
pacman -Syu and a 'new' package wlroots0.16 appeared which breaks the update.

Should be fixed already, just wait for your mirror to sync the updated wlroots package (provides libwlroots.so.12 now, so shouldn't conflict)

Re: wlroots0.16: /usr/lib/libwlroots.so.11 exists in filesystem

If its not solved, the problem is wlroots and and wlroots-git is conflicted. Not quite remember the package names but i was trying to install sway after swayfx. And also there was version problem about it.

@jojo06 We appreciate your willingness to help/give back (I guess) - but you're not helping. @WorMzy already pointed out where this conflict stems from. Also

wlroots0.16: /usr/lib/libwlroots.so.11 exists in filesystem (owned by wlroots)

there is no wlroots git package involved.
Also please don't hijack already solved threads just because you found a similar message in your journal... (Don't worry - I will stop "reacting" to your posts from now on smile)

Re: wlroots0.16: /usr/lib/libwlroots.so.11 exists in filesystem

@dogknowsnx oh,since the OP doesn't mark it as solved and the link @WorMzy posted doesn't have the exact problem as in the output you mentioned, I thought I'd write the solution to the problem I was dealing with before. But I think I'd better stop. I was just eager to learn and contribute to the forum. And actually i had the same issue with same output. Or OP has facing the problem in other way or similar problem perhaps.

Why? Did I give you a rude answer or was I indifferent? Please forgive me if I missed something.

Re: wlroots0.16: /usr/lib/libwlroots.so.11 exists in filesystem

The problem of the OP was that they tried to install wlroots0.16 along wlroots before the latter had been updated to 0.17 in the repos or their mirror, so effectively two non-conflicting packages that provide the same versioned binary, hence the file conflict.
WorMzy's link is the 0.17 wlroots commit that resolves the file conflict.

And actually i had the same issue with same output.

is rejected by your previous comment

the problem is wlroots and and wlroots-git is conflicted

which is completely unrelated and basically https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_U … g_packages

The wiki wrote:

The AUR is unsupported, so any packages you install are your responsibility to update, not pacman's. If packages in the official repositories are updated, you will need to rebuild any AUR packages that depend on those libraries.

except that https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/wlroots-git also conflicts w/ wlroots, so you cannot have run into an error where these two packages wanted to provide the same file, because you cannot install them alongside.

This is why you don't paraphrase, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855 and just go by "oh, problem™ with wlroots, I had problem™ with wlroots, I'll declare them same"
Details fucking matter a lot here.

Re: wlroots0.16: /usr/lib/libwlroots.so.11 exists in filesystem

@seth Yes, I just realized it myself. You put it very well. I had the same problem you mentioned, but it was a problem when I couldn't explain it in detail and in a good way.

@dogknowsnx When you say "blood pressure", I think my comments and/or my behavior irritate you. My friend, believe me, that's not what I want. Not at all. Please don't disturb your peace and don't hesitate to warn me if you see something wrong.
