GNOME Extensions App Crashing on Settings Access in Latest Arch Linux

Hello,

I have recently performed a clean installation of the latest version of Arch Linux. In my previous installations of Arch Linux, I used the GNOME Extensions app without any issues. However, in this current installation, I am experiencing a consistent problem.

Despite installing a clean version of Arch Linux, any GNOME extension that I install and subsequently attempt to access the settings for, causes the GNOME Extensions app to crash. This issue occurs every time I click on the 'Settings' of any installed extension.

The specific error message I encounter is as follows:

I have followed the standard installation process for both Arch Linux and the GNOME Extensions. This problem seems to be a new occurrence with the latest version of Arch Linux, as I did not face such issues in the previous versions.

Any insights or solutions to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Getting the same error here when I click on settings on any extension. Installed gnome-meta & gnome forge, both from the aur just now.

I restored to a previous snapshot of my system and there was no issue.  I note that updating installed GNOME 45.3 and mutter 45.3 - but haven't confirmed they are the cause.  Haven't yet heard from others on other distros if they're seeing this - so far it looks like an Arch specific issue(?)

I am having the exact same issue after updating my kernel...
I can open settings menu of each GNOME extension but it shuts down after a couple of seconds and then it is impossible to reopen it.

Has anyone tried reporting this issue to GNOME developers or the Arch Linux team? So far, I've only reported it here on the forum. Thanks for your cooperation, and please consider sharing this issue in places where it can be addressed. It seems like an update might be necessary to resolve this. Thanks, guys!

temporary workaround: access the same settings menu through extension-manager

edit: has to be done before the crash. start another gnome session if necessary

I thought it was just me, but I notice in the Extension App when going to settings it will work for a moment and crashed or go out of settings and going back to settings on any settings on extension won't work.  After logging off it work for a short moment and crash again.  I notice after installing back Arch on to one of my computers been doing this.  I thought it was only me that was getting this, but I guess its a bug of some sort.  No biggy as I managed to setup my dash to dock, but it was annoying to log out, log in to finally get my dash to dock to be the way I want it to be lol.

I hadn't updated since the 11th so was curious if I'd experience this issue (I did). Downgraded anything I thought would help and made a new user account but no change. I can only suspect it's related to the dbus change (which I did not downgrade) but who knows.

This issue is caused by `gjs` 1.78.2.  I've confirmed this by downgrading `gjs` to 1.78.1 and this issue no longer occurs. 

Until this is fixed, as a workaround, you can install the AUR package `downgrade` (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/downgrade) (with `yay` or however you usually install AUR packages), and then do a:

```
sudo downgrade gjs
```
and select version `1.78.1`.

Note: for me, starting the window via `extension manager` or EGO etc. didn't change this behaviour (still disappeared).  Temporarily downgrading to `gjs` version `1.78.1` does however resolve this issue from occurring for me.
