can't connect to the wifi

on ubuntu (and other debian/ubuntu based distros) i would go to driver manager and turn on bcmwl-kernel-source driver to get access to the wifi. or i would tweak it a little in the terminal. here i dont even know what to do. wifi doesn't appear in the gui. the only way i can access the internet is by tethering via usb.
my laptop is: MacBookPro11,1 1.0
output for lspci -nn -d 14e4: is: [14e4:43a0] (rev 03)
