[SOLVED] apps no long open

this is an odd one. all of a sudden some apps appear to be locking up, or not loading completely. the apps appear to launch, but I can't do a file open on files.

for example, a couple apps I use 90% of the time are vscodium and ristretto image viewer.

when I open vscodium the app loads, and I can click on the menu items, but no menu items work, and as for ristretto, it loads, but it appears to lock up.

I did a system update then rebooted, that did not help.

these apps seem to work find on my thinkpad.

not sure what happened on my desktop.

any ideas where to look?

EDIT:
tldr; nas died, had linked workspace to nas.

Run them from a command line, see if anything interesting shows up in stderr

Re: [SOLVED] apps no long open

ristretto is now working, however vscodium still loads the window and menu. I can navigate the menu, but options don't work.

no errors from terminal for vscodium.

Re: [SOLVED] apps no long open

a) what changed wrt ristretto?
b) What is "options don't work" supposed to mean? https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855

Sanity check: you're not conducting partial updates, are you?

Re: [SOLVED] apps no long open

@seth,

I am going to chock both these issues up to my nas dying today. ristretto, I think it may have had a file cache, and just repeated attempts to open it freed it up, dunno, it's appears to be working fine.

as for vscodium, wiped out my config folder and it loaded up, so I dug down into the old config folder and I had a workspace that was located on my nas which is not online. I would have though vscodium would have still loaded, just with a workspace offline warning.

marking solved.
