[SOLVED] Postfix removed support for Berkeley DB in 3.9.0

I got this information when upgrading postfix to 3.9.0 so of course, i checked the postfix homepage to what exactly to do.

I checked here: http://www.postfix.org/announcements/postfix-3.9.0.html
and here: https://www.postfix.org/DEPRECATION_README.html
and here: http://www.postfix.org/VIRTUAL_README.html
and here: http://www.postfix.org/DB_README.html

But to my surprise, i can not find any mention of this feature getting removed. According to the Postfix homepage, its neither deprecated nor removed.

So i downloaded the source and checked the release notes, no mention there either. the example configs that get shipped with postfix-3.9.0 still all use hash: and Berkley DB.

How did the Arch Devs get notice of this? How is an Admin supposed to know what to do, when there seems to be not a single mention on the official homepage of the projects and all sample files, even shipped with the newest release, use deprecated, non-functioning syntax. Sure there is the notice/hint when installing the package, yes. But thats it.

Im a bit stunned...

Even the Man-Page and the README says use Berkley DB and uses hash: for every single example...

I misread the notification.

I thought I read postfix did remove the support, but they didn't. The support was removed in Archlinux, unrelated to postfix.

That explains why there is nothing about this on the postfix homepage

Re: [SOLVED] Postfix removed support for Berkeley DB in 3.9.0

I'm somewhat convinced the upgrade told me:

WARNING: Support for BDB hash: and btree: database types has been removed, the default database type is now lmdb.
Please update your main.cf configuration accordingly, and use postmap to convert existing databases.

This had also been mentioned somewhere I don't actually recall (one of the mailing lists maybe), as I'd already done the conversion.

But maybe I'm mistaken ...

You're not. I was just confused because I did not find anything about this change in the postfix homepage.

But it wasn't a change in postfix, that's why
