audio problems

hello all, i'm a new archlinux user, and i've find a problem on my pc: the sound not work.. but the strange thing is that before a week ago all works well. yesterday i've note that fi i use beryl the audio doesn't work, but using kwin there aren't problems. today i cannot make my pc's audio work.... i've tryed:
reset alsa configuration
stop and start the alsa daemon
pull up all the mixer's levels
rmmod and modprobe all sound's kernel modules
less audiofile.wav >> /dev/dsp
but i cannot hear nothing.

anyone has some ideas?

thanks, and excuse me for the bad english...

Re: audio problems

Sorry but this question must be asked:

Are your speaker cables plugged in properly?
