can't change resolution (Gnome issue?)

Hey there,
I installed archlinux for the first time, but can't change the desktop resolution lower as 4k.
I get the white error screen if i try i don't remember what is says exactly but something like doesn't work nothing more.
I tried cinnamon environment, there i dont have the problem. but i really would like to use gnome.

I use Gnome as desktop environment.
got a nvidia gpu connected to a 4k 16:9 monitor.
the issue is present from the get go after the installation of arch linux.

and yes i searched in this forum and on the web, but don't seem to find anyone with a related issue.
if there is any more info you may need, i'll try to provide them.

Re: can't change resolution (Gnome issue?)

Please don't paraphrase, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855

Does the problem exist w/ gnome on X11?

for OUT in /sys/class/drm/card*; do echo $OUT; edid-decode $OUT/edid; echo "================="; done

You'll need https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/edid-decode-git
