[SOLVED] SDDM snaps back to login window

I just updated my installation , system boots normally but when I enter password for my user at SDDM login prompt it immediately snaps back again to same window not letting me login to my system. I am posting Xorg.0.log here , if someone can guide me what went wrong with my system.

Will do that and meanwhile I disabled sddm and logged in to openbox by startx but desktop/system freeze in few seconds and there is a popup window in the middle of  the screen shown here in screenshot

Your xinitrc is broken - post it, but you should™ still be able to switch the VT at this point.

Re: [SOLVED] SDDM snaps back to login window

No, it's not?

ls -l /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d
echo $DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS
ps aux | grep dbus

Next step will be

printenv
sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

Sorry since I can't login to desktop I'm running these commands at tty and uploaded the screenshot, I think I might have messed up some commands

im posting these commands by chrooting into that partition and getting out put , I am not sure if it will help in any way

# echo $DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS

# journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st
http://0x0.st/XtGl.txt
Nope! this last command copied the log from host installation not from the partition to which I have chrooted

Here is the correct file in screenshot, sorry for all the trouble

Re: [SOLVED] SDDM snaps back to login window

@seth,

I think I found the culprit , I made some changes in /etc/environment file , which commented those out system boots by startsx and will test it with sddm as well. Boot normal with sddm as well now.

here is what I messed up in environment file which I believe should be blank by default

lLANG=en_US.UTF-8
LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8
#XDG_SESSION_TYPE=openbox
#DESKTOP_SESSION=openbox
#XDG_COLOR_SCHEME=default
#XDG_FONT_PATH=/usr/share/fonts
#XDG_THEME=default
QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=qt5ct
BROWSER=/usr/bin/firefox
EDITOR=geany

Re: [SOLVED] SDDM snaps back to login window

* lLANG=en_US.UTF-8
"LANG", but this is set in /etc/locale.conf
* LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8
LC_ALL is typically only for debugging and should not be generally set

* #XDG_SESSION_TYPE=openbox
===>>>> This is bogus, it's tty, wayland or x11 and you should not set it in /etc/environment either, see eg. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Getty#Virtual_console but not when using SDDM
The only location where you kinda need to set this is if you're manually starting KDE or gnome.

* #DESKTOP_SESSION=openbox
This is typically set by the session, but I'd not suspect harm from it

* #XDG_FONT_PATH
* #XDG_THEME
I don't think that's a thing

Thanks for the clarification , sometimes overdoing things do create problems than any betterment.
