Hello,
I use network profiles ("NET_PROFILES=(menu)") to choose between ethernet and wifi connections on my laptop. But I would like to make the selection automatically, based on the state of ethernet connection (output of mii-tool), so instead of choosing a menu option, I could just plug in the network cable.
How to do that? Is it (easily) possible with current init scripts of archlinux?
Regards,
miko

Update: I just found "New network management scripts?" thread in " Arch Discussion" forum, which partially answers my question.
The thread is there: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=29631

What I used to do with my laptop was to use ifplugd. It is a daemon that can bring a network interface up or down based on inserting/removing a cable. I had the wifi connection as the default on in /etc/rc.conf, but if a cable was plugged in at boot, ifplugd would use the wired connection instead.
