[SOLVED] Need help troubleshooting some crashes

I'm not sure what category does this issue belong to, so I'll just put it here.

I'm using Arch + DWM, and when i launch xserver (xstart) it just shows black screen for like 5 seconds, additionally completely freezes sometimes, very randomly.
switching tty doesn't work, even if i kill dwm using ssh, tty doesnt work either because everything is frozen, shortly after ssh connection also breaks, I just have to force reboot.
Additionally, my network doesn't work until I start cloudflare-warp, it work fine even after disconnecting it, weird.

I'd really appreciate any help.

sorry for the lack of logs, i couldn't get the journal logs at the moment as these freezes are random, here's one for the boot it froze minutes after booting. Any other logs i can provide?

https://github.com/Elixirslayer/log/blo … freeze.log

some twingate fail errors, I had uninstalled it but forgot to remove its systemd service.

Re: [SOLVED] Need help troubleshooting some crashes

Please expand on what exactly is installed here in terms of network stack, since there are a lot of errors related to network services, including some logs that are set to DEBUG. I think your description of "Arch + DWM" isn't really all that's happening on that machine.

What network management tool are you using? Are you positive you only have the one (1) manager running? I also have no idea what 'twingate' and cloudflare are and why they're failing. Is there a relationship/dependency between 'twingate'  and cloudflare?

These errors look like they need to be resolved, since they reoccur constantly; and I think this is your WAN card, which could explain why the entire network stack seems to be failing:

Yank the wifi dongle, see whether your problems go away.
If yes, try a different usb port - you only have one 3.2 hub, but maybe the firmware discriminates power supply to the the ports.
Run "dmesg -W" and plug the dongle again.

Yes i figured that might be causing some problems so i took it out after seeing logs, haven't frozen since then.

Sorry for the lack of description, I'll explain in details.

cloudflare warp is basically a VPN, nothing much.
I'm hosting some private services like jellyfin and minecraft server, I just wanted to expose them for educational purposes.
I'm behind CG-NAT so IPv4 port forwarding isn't possible for me, I figured using twingate would work, which basically lets you access your network "securely" from outside network.
I had to install its "connector" in docker and twingate-cli in my main machine, which I no longer have, i completely uninstalled and stopped it as i had no use of twingate anymore.
Then I opened some IPv6 ports from router firewall for a friend, later closed them.
In terms of Network Management tools I'm simply using NetworkManager and iptables.

And so yes, I'm positive that only one manager is running, what else could be running?

Also, unlike those 2 posts, my wifi dongle is recognized by

lsusb

And, I can connect to wifi wirelessly, just tested with nmcli.

Still running flawless on that port?

I doubted if it works on 2.0 port, but now it's working on neither of them.

┌──(oc㉿ArchOp)-[~]
└─$ nmcli dev wifi connect "UUID" password "passwd"
Error: 802-11-wireless-security.key-mgmt: property is missing.

Tested on both ports, what am i missing?
No crashes since post.

lsusb shows the wireless dongle.

Update: tested on a different 3.0 port, connected just fine. Why is that?

Re: [SOLVED] Need help troubleshooting some crashes

Found the problem with connectivity, it's the usb hub. When I have 2 devices plugged in 3.0 ports, it give me the

Error: 802-11-wireless-security.key-mgmt: property is missing.

error.

Although, having a device plugged in the back, and another in front I/O works.

Sorry, I was probably wrong, that error is because device is already connected. (Not entirely sure, two devices are connected on the back 3.0 ports.

Re: [SOLVED] Need help troubleshooting some crashes

There's probably more to that than a missing property.
The key will end up being underpowered - radio dongles draw quite some power and this one might be excessive (and this might also be the leading cause of the other two thread)

When I have 2 devices plugged in 3.0 ports, it give me the

Also, as mentioned in my previous edit, The missing property error could, possibly, be because I'm already connected.

Error: 802-11-wireless-security.key-mgmt: property is missing.

shows I'm connected, meanwhile

nmcli dev wifi connect

command give the missing property error

Ok, in that case it's WAY more likely that if they're in physical proximity, you end up w/ radio interference.
