[SOLVED] Wired connection not working after Update

Hi there, i need help.

My wired connection worked fine before I do a system update.

sudo pacman -Syu

I checked

ip addr show and it shows

: eno1: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state DOWN group default qlen 1000
    link/ether b4:2e:99:ed:16:b2 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

I want to mention that the cable works fine. I have Windows on another drive.

NetworkManager also works

etworkManager.service - Network Manager
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/NetworkManager.service; enabled; preset: disabled)
Active: active (running) since Fri 2025-01-24 18:04:10 CET; 7min ago

This info was also the same when the Wired connection works

I'm currently posting using Wifi which works OK, but wired connection is down.

Any help?

Re: [SOLVED] Wired connection not working after Update

I have Windows on another drive.

3rd link below. Mandatory.
Disable it (it's NOT the BIOS setting!) and reboot windows and linux twice for voodo reasons.

If that's not it you'll have to post the system journal so we get an idea what's going on - it would probably be power saving related, but first check the windows situation.

Re: [SOLVED] Wired connection not working after Update

Thanks for your reply @seth

I solved the problem by reinstalling the kernel, the same and only i used ( linux ) kernel. After reinstall and restart, wired connection back to normal.

By the way, I also completely reinstalled Arch Linux and installed the LINUX-LTS kernel instead of the default one ( LINUX ). I knew I could just install LTS kernel and remove the current one, but I wanted to start with fresh installation.

I will wait until new upgrade is available and do update to see what will happen with wired connection. If all is good, then there should be some bug with LINUX kernel or with my PC...

Re: [SOLVED] Wired connection not working after Update

The most likely cause is that something went wrong w/ the previous kernel installation and you ended up lacking the relevant kernel module (usually because you forgot/failed to mount the boot partition or have mounted a spurious one)
Do you use an OOT driver for the wifi or have the module in the initramfs?

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.

Was this actually a repost of https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=302378 ?

I think that is not the case because I started with new installation few days before the problem appeared. I installed LINUX kernel trough installation process and had only one kernel.

No. There was a problem with the router, I replace it with another and now all works good. I will update that post.
