SD card is not recognised by the system

Hello,

Due to some reason system does not see sd card anymore. Updated recently to 6.12.10-arch1-1 (although not sure that this update is the reason for sd card stop working).
Can you pls. advise how to fix this?

Re: SD card is not recognised by the system

Please don't paraphrase, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855
Where and how does it not "see" it?

Please post your complete system journal for the boot:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

And ideally also a journal from a boot where the card could still be accessed ("… -b -5 …" would be 5 boots ago)

The run "dmesg -W", plug the card and post the dmesg output that generates.

Plugging the card provides 0 output, no single line

Otherwise:

The kernel changed from 6.12.9 to 6.12.10, i doubt that this is the cause but you might try to revert that.

Plugging the card provides 0 output, no single line

Do you have another card or reader to test that card in?

Fyi: You're running dhcpcd and NM concurrently (and they stumble over each other), there seems an issue w/ your pulseaudio/pipewire setup and

фев 06 01:49:54 Banzaykapuss kernel: nvidia 0000:01:00.0: PM: pci_pm_suspend(): nv_pmops_suspend [nvidia] returns -5
фев 06 01:49:54 Banzaykapuss kernel: nvidia 0000:01:00.0: PM: dpm_run_callback(): pci_pm_suspend returns -5
фев 06 01:49:54 Banzaykapuss kernel: nvidia 0000:01:00.0: PM: failed to suspend async: error -5

likely because because of

фев 02 23:36:09 Banzaykapuss kernel: NVRM: GPU 0000:01:00.0: PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations module parameter is set. System Power Management attempted without driver procfs suspend interface. Please refer to the 'Configuring Power Management Support' section in the driver README.

You probably want to look into these things regardless.

Also the journals are btw. 30MB of spam, mostly from dolpin? trying to play some hevc video?

Indeed, dual boot.

seth wrote:

(1) Bought a new card reader, connected via usb directly to laptop, put the card in - started to work.
Laptop I'm using Asus Rog Flow x14n with eGPU hub - external GPU with various ports, including usb, card reader, etc
(2) For test connected new card reader to eGPU via usb - didn't work
(3) Plugged card directly into eGPU card reader - didn't work as well
Then returned to variant (1) and laptop hanged with black screen and no reaction to any keyboard input. The only visible effect - it was hot and coolers worked ar various speed.

After manual reboot variant (3) started to work and I'm afraid now to test other variants.
In case it might helps - log from this boot

Not sure I understand the reason for that, the only thing I do observe on the system - random drops of external monitor with its further fallback to laptop built-in monitor and return back to external monitor in several seconds or so. Can you pls. advise how to dig into this issue as well?

I'm not familiar with this format, but sometime watch videos downloaded from messengers like telegram.

Re: SD card is not recognised by the system

Indeed, dual boot.

3rd link below. Mandatory.
Disable it (it's NOT the BIOS setting!) and reboot windows and linux twice for voodo reasons.

They're running in parallel because they were both enabled by you.
Please post the output of

find /etc/systemd -type l -exec test -f {} \; -print | awk -F'/' '{ printf ("%-40s | %s\n", $(NF-0), $(NF-1)) }' | sort -f

Disable the superfluous one(s) - likely dhcpcd if you want to continue to use NM.

Did I get it correctly, that this should be done irrespective of actual usage of Windows? E.g. Windows is for legacy reasons only, don't use it, haven't booted since Linux installation.

Re: SD card is not recognised by the system

Yes, windows uses itself (the primary issue is that a hibernating system will leave the HW in an undefined state and confuse the ACPI about what's happening)
It would be an obvious explanation as to why the internal reader erratically deosn't show up at all.

As mentioned, disable dhcpcd.service, also

pacman -Qs pulse

- use "pipewire-pulse", not "pulseaudio" next to pipewire.
