Microphone seems to be detected and unmuted but not working (pipewire)

Hello!
After a recent system update my microphone stopped working (laptop integrated microphone).
I've tried following this thread from over a year ago as well as this one, but couldn't find a solution for my problem (I've also read some other posts, but didn't find anything). Here's some info that could be useful:

got no output from

pactl list source-outputs

What I've tried so far:
1. removing ~/.local/state/wireplumber and ~/.local/state/pipewire and restarting wireplumber and pipewire by running

~> rm -rf ~/.local/state/wireplumber
~> rm -rf ~/.local/state/pipewire
~> systemctl --user restart wireplumber
~> systemctl --user restart pipewire

2.

pactl set-source-volume alsa_input.pci-0000_04_00.6.analog-stereo 0 65536

as well as swapping the muted channel.

I'd be very grateful if someone could help.
Sorry for my bad English and that I may have provided you with some useless info/command outputs.
Thanks!

Re: Microphone seems to be detected and unmuted but not working (pipewire)

Same problem, same ALC256 card. After a few hours of going in circles, this finally worked.

1. removed Pulsaudio, installed Pipewire

pacman -Rdd pulseaudio pulseaudio-alsa pulseaudio-equalizer pulseaudio-equalizer-ladspa

(stuff I had with Pulseaudio)

pacman -S pipewire-{jack,alsa,pulse} pipewire-libcamera wireplumber

then reboot

2. Pavucontrol: Configuration --> Profile: Pro Audio

3. Alsamixer: F6 select Sound Card: default:1

4. Alsamixer: F4 [Capture]

5. Alsamixer: select Internal Mic 1

Some background info:
- I'm on i3 but also tried Xfce4, to no avail. Previously mic had no issues whatsoever for years. I haven't used it very much recently so cannot tell when this went wrong.
- Same laptop, Mint/Xfce4 live usb, mic works straight out of the box. Back to Arch, no joy.
- Similar laptop on Arch too, same sound card, exact same mic problem. That one was solved by booting into KDE and touching sound settings. Rebooting into anything else kept the mic working. I don't have KDE.

I stay puzzled but happy to test things if that helps.
