xmms-speex plugin

Arch already has SPEEX pkg
well it would be really good if you also did
http://jzb.rapanden.dk/pub/speex-xmms-0.9.1.tar.gz
oh and btw as the README says:
Requirements:
Xmms development headers (libxmms1-devel)
Ogg development headers (libogg0-devel or libogg1-devel)
Speex (and remember to compile it as shared libraries (./configure
--enable-shar
ed))
Gtk+ 1.2 development headers (libgtk+1.2-devel)
even if you don't do it then plz add to your speex pkg ./configure the --enable-shared parameter

thanks in advance

btw I uploaded in incoming 2 packages [physfs and paragui]
these are my first packages, is there anything else to do to see them in packages.php ?

thanks, ARCH just rocks

never heard of speex xmms plugin ... is there a main URL to this project?

most headers we have in arch are inside the usual pkgs, no problem about this

about speex-pkg to enable-shared: bugs.archlinux.org -> post a bug explaining why this would be better (explain in the bugreport) and contact the maintainer directly

yes: post the PKGBUILD's as [ code ] i the "new packages" in the forum (have a look at other posts to see how) and provide as much information about them as possible (url, experience, if it works for you ...) ... note: you can always try your pkg by installing it:

 pacman -U thepkg-someversion.pkg.tar.gz

will install it

the better your pkg, the less work to bring it to work and the easier to take it to the official repositories

you should also speak to the TU's to tell them that you made a pkg that they can include it to the staging-repositories (TUR is at the moment under reconstruction, so we all have to wait)

by the way:

did you run "namcap thepkgyoumade.pkg.tar.gz"? this will check it on dependences

Re: xmms-speex plugin

hello.
I contacted the maintainer of speex pkg and told me to tell it to the forum. |one sends me to the other|

the site: http://jzb.rapanden.dk/projects/speex-xmms

yes i did namcap and yes i did pacman -A
and yes it worked OK
so if TUR doesn't work I will also have to upload my PKGBUILD

thanks for the general info. I think the docs only say upload it to the incoming [someone must change the docs]

thanks

no, it's not buerocracy here ... i made xmms-speex and it worked with speex pkg as is ... so there is no need to change speex-pkg at all, that's probably his reason :-)

but if you want a pkg to be changed because something not working, you have to post a bug and convince the maintainer that change is needed

it's not a rule to post also to the forum, but as incoming is growing faster than the TU's can take pkgs out of it, forum-posts let people who search after pkgs find them easier --- and if you also post PKGBUILD directly to the forum to be seen, then people can copy/paste it and try your pkg really fast

He was quoting the README, he hadn't looked at the speex package.
