Console Resolution with Kernel 2-6

After I install the Kernel 2.6 from the pack rep, the console switches resolution in an extremly tiny font. How do I revert back to standard mode?

Re: Console Resolution with Kernel 2-6

What boot loader do You have? GRUB/LILO ? I have GRUB - so in /boot/grub/menu.lst You have FRAMEBUFFER RESOLUTION SETTINGS - choose one and add option to kernel line in the same file.

I have also GRUB ... but, I dont want a framebuffer at all! I want just the standard console. How do I disable it?

Re: Console Resolution with Kernel 2-6

As I suppose you mean - console without Xorg, so why can't you change framebuffer to 640x480 resolution? It's normal, or I don't catch what you're talking about.

Re: Console Resolution with Kernel 2-6

Yes, I mean console without Xorg. I did changed the resolution to 640x480. But I hate frambuffers ... I did a little research and found out a way to disable console framebuffer. Here is the panacea :

video=vesa:off

Hope it works ... gonna try now.

!Newsflash!

It does not work! sad

Re: Console Resolution with Kernel 2-6

Problem solved. The renegade framebuffer went under the name nvidia-fb ... he is dust.
