glxinfo and clinfo hang when using dedicated gpu

i have been trying to get my dedicated gpu  (AMD Radeon PRO WX 3100) in my laptop to be used by davinci resolve, but whenever i use the checker to see if my config works it hangs. i found it's due to both glxinfo and clinfo which both hang when DRI_PRIME=1 is before them. i'm using the opencl-legacy-amdgpu-pro and intel-compute-runtime opencl drivers because the other drivers wouldn't detect the graphics card. glxinfo does detect the Radeon PRO without DRI_PRIME=1, but only when immediately starting X. same with clinfo.

What is the brand & model of your laptop ?

Yes

glxinfo does detect the Radeon PRO without DRI_PRIME=1, but only when immediately starting X

for either case and probably also your complete system journal for the boot:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

Do amdgpu_top or radeontop still report the GPU?

don't know what you meant by "GPU to fail entirely" but running firefox with DRI_PRIME=1 works fine

The kernel parameter "amdgpu.dpm=0" might cause the GPU to not respond at all anymore.

it is detected by radeontop and amdgpu_top but running firefox with DRI_PRIME=1 works fine

And "DRI_PRIME=1 glxinfo"? Did you apply the parameters and did they have any impact then?

What's the clinfo output w/ rustic?

It's hard to find official statements on HW requirements, but according to google™ you need 16GB RAM and 4GB VRAM fro davinci resolve and the above doesn't provide >2GB

And what's the clinfo on the IGP?
Rustic obviously works as well (albeit on 2GB as well) - this is between DVR and the GPU, not your CL installation.

rocm is btw. supposed to work w/ ROC_ENABLE_PRE_VEGA=1

i tried to use ROC_ENABLE_PRE_VEGA but it didn't detect the gpu for some reason

also, clinfo doesn't list anything for the igp, just the icd loader properties

The last RocM version with support for GCN4 (pre-Vega) was 5.6 (some reports claim 5.7) .
Rocm 6 and later may work one time , fail the next 2 times, work the 4th time etc or not work at all.

Which version of DVR are you trying to get to work ?

clinfo didn't list anything for the igp, even when the intel.icd was the only thing in the vendors directory. and i still had opencl-legacy-amd-pro installed when i did the clinfo with rusticl, later down in that clinfo log is
