I noticed several peculiarities on my laptop:
WiFi speed goes from 3–6 MB/s using hybrid graphics to 9-10 MB/s using the dedicated NVIDIA GPU.
In Xorg or a virtual console I get 9–10 MB/s even with hybrid graphics.
Turning my display off instantly increases WiFi speed to 9–10 MB/s.
In others words, if these three factors apply, my WiFi will be slow:
Hybrid graphics
Wayland (I tested Sway and Niri)
Display on
The laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad P53 with an Intel UHD Graphics 630 and an NVIDIA Quadro RTX 3000. The screen is 4K and runs at 60 Hz. The Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 is connected to a 2.4 GHz WiFi with a signal level of about -69 dBm.
Looking for software or hardware fixes. After all, the laptop is relatively easy to disassemble.

What happens if you run picom on the glx backend in this condition?
Offline
Under Xorg/i3 with `picom --backend glx` WiFi was not slowed down.
Offline
Since the display has to be active and the signal is already rather poor it's more likely to be interference than power drain but I don't see where picom/gl would behave differently from wayland/gl.
Please post your Xorg log, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General

Started Xorg/i3, started picom with glx backend, confirmed WiFi was fast. Here is the Xorg log:

Do you think I have HDR enabled? I am on sway 1.11, so the hdr option does not exist. My output options are as follows:
output eDP-1 {
scale 2
render_bit_depth 10
color_profile icc ~/.color/icc/internal.icc
}If I disable all of them and reload Sway, I still have slow WiFi.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You could test whether controlling the status on hyprland has any impact, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/HDR#Hyprland
The conditions are wild but were're looking for interference and behavior different among sway and x11/weston and see eg. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 3#p2204343

I am not sure if I actually did what you suggested. In hyprland I added:
monitor = eDP-1, 3840x2160@60, 0x0, 2, bitdepth, 10, cm, hdrColors got washed out and WiFi speed was as slow as without HDR enabled. Playing fullscreen HDR video as per the wiki was still washed out with HDR enabled, so it might be misconfigured.

The more interesting question is whether you caused different behavior and whether that had impact on the radio.
Can you btw. test the impact on a 5GHz channel?

Not sure if you missed it or I’m misunderstanding: “WiFi speed was as slow as without HDR enabled.” However, I wasn’t sure if the test was valid as HDR didn’t seem to be working correctly. Colors became washed out globally once HDR was enabled, but the fullscreen HDR video in mpv was also clearly washed out. I didn’t dig deeper to fix this or to determine whether it was supported on my hardware.

5GHz seems to be completely unaffected. Nearly identical throughput in Sway with Intel UHD regardless of whether the display was on or off.

I meant a direct comparism w/ the option set and not (ie. not against sway) since we don't really know what you're achieving there.
It however seems to be interference on the 2.4GHz band for sure - just the conditions are wild (you'd rather expect such interference issues with bluetooth ./. wifi)
Does the opening angle of the lid have any impact on the situation?

I did compare speeds with and without HDR enabled under Hyprland. There was no difference. Just the same speeds as in Sway in both cases.
As for the display angle, I tried to test this by finding angles that had similar link quality. I didn’t see meaningful differences between nearly closed and widely opened.
USB 3 is on another level when it comes to 2.4 GHz interference with this laptop. Let’s say I use the NVIDIA card at 7–10 MB/s and with 2 ms pings. Then I connect an external USB drive over a 50 cm cable. If the WiFi connection doesn’t instantly drop, I can vary the speed with the distance of the drive. Fully extended I might still get 1 MB/s and pings in the hundreds. Moving the drive toward the laptop will drop all but the strongest connections.

I'd say the problem is the wifi, not any particular other device - only 2.4GHz being affected makes powersaving an unlikely cause.
Did you at some point open the device (potentially compromising the antenna)
Do you use bluetooth and/or is bluetooth rfkill'd?

Power saving makes no difference.
I disassembled the laptop to re-paste it, which significantly dropped temperatures. I followed the ThinkPad P53 Hardware Maintenance Manual. Page 94: “1230 Thermal fan assembly”
I’m not particularly clumsy and, at least on a good day, able to follow instructions. No cables were unnecessarily bent or put into places they weren’t before. That said, I bought the laptop used. It is likely a decommissioned company laptop.
Strong USB 3 interference was present before I opened the laptop. Bluetooth has always been enabled but unused.

Does rfkill'ing BT change anything?

Does a USB key cause similar problems (the drive or its case might act as EM shield, though that would affect 5GHz more than 2.4GHz - the entire situation is a bit weird…)
