downgrading linux-firmware-* to 20260622-1(this version worked before)
shutting down the laptop, unplugging power and disconnecting battery, because apparently the bluetooth chip can hold on to firmware while it still has power
downgrading pipewire to 1.6.6-1
downgrading bluez to 5.86-5
installing bluez-git
Tried the headphones on a different arch box on which they worked previously and the same happened, so it's probably to do with some package which needs to be rolled back, but so far I haven't been able to figure out which one is it.

Have you tried simply restarting bluetooth service (cmd line, not pc power off) ?
What desktop are you using, KDE, Gnome, Xfce or other ?
