Re: ftp : no route to host

What do you mean you can log on the ftp server...do you mean you can log on the local machine that is hosting the ftp server, or you can actually ftp in to the machine?  Do you do this from inside of your own network, or from the outside world?  Are you connecting using the IP address directly, or do you have some sort of DNS records set up?  Do you have port forwarding set up to pass port 21 to that specific machine?  All of those things could be effecting what you've described...

Re: ftp : no route to host

i think i have some hints. i try ftp both from internal and external network. i "passive" after i logon the ftp server. the server respond with "192.168.1.150.x.xx". this is a internal address on my machine. it is understandable for internal machines. however, the external machine has no way to know where the server is.
i think i need a server that can translate an internal address to external address automatically.

Re: ftp : no route to host

update :
i added a option in proftpd.conf so that the server will translate the internal address to external address. however, i still get "connection refuse" error after turn the passive on.

Re: ftp : no route to host

by the way, after switch on the passive mode, "pwd" working. but "ls" show "connection refuse".
