madwifi-hal-0.9.30.13

I'm trying to establish a wireless connection on my (open) home network using madwifi-hal-0.9.30.13. My wireless card is not yet supported by the main madwifi branch so I had to get a separate branch from svn. Following the newbie guide on madwifi's web site, I am able to see wireless networks but I just can't get an ip with dhcpcd or dhclient. Attempts to ping the router are also unsuccessful. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Most likely, if you can't get any IP Address you've problems with the encryption.
If you type iwconfig, and your network essid is set correctly and th AP is right, then i'd take a look at encryption. Otherwhise i'd try to see why the setting's arn't applyed.

My network does not require a passphrase to access. When you say encryption, are you referring to something else? And how do I check to see why the settings aren't being applied?

No, a WEP passphrase?
Probably, you'll need to set s:password as a key in your profile.
