strange permissions - can't delete/move file

I'm not sure what has happened, but here are the permissions for a user's mail directory.  Somehow the 'new' folder has been corrupted, and the permissions show up as question marks.

drwx------ 9 root root 344 2007-05-28 23:00 .
drwx------ 10 vmail vmail 248 2006-07-05 15:58 ..
drwx------ 6 root root 256 2007-02-23 21:09 .Drafts
drwx------ 6 root root 256 2007-02-23 21:09 .Sent
drwx------ 6 root root 256 2007-02-24 13:39 .Trash
drwx------ 2 root root 616 2007-02-24 13:39 courierimapkeywords
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 36 2007-02-23 21:09 courierimapsubscribed
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 185443 2007-02-24 13:39 courierimapuiddb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 35029 2007-05-26 11:54 courierpop3dsizelist
drwx------ 2 root root 474800 2007-05-26 21:52 cur
?????????? ? ? ? ? ? new
drwx------ 2 root root 48 2007-05-29 11:40 tmp

I can't do anything with the file.  If I try to move it, delete it, copy it or rename it, I get a 'permission denied' error.

Filesystem is reiser

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: strange permissions - can't delete/move file

looks like it's corrupted, though i usually use ext3 and am not too familiar with what errors look like on reiser. but i would at least unmount the partition (or boot to live cd) and run reiserfsck on it.
