Finally got my noip up and running. As I was trying to edit it yesterday, I let a friend of mine in remotely. Well being that Im still a newb to this stuff he decided to play a little joke on me and put some crazy stuff up and change the document root....knowing I wouldnt figure that out. Anyways I finally figured it out and got the document root changed back to /home/httpd/html. And then the site said acces forbidden. So my other buddy told me I needed to change all file permissions to 644 and make root the owner of all those directories. I did that and it still says forbidden when I got to the site. Anyone know what I may have missed?

Hi,
IMO it was silly to "let the friend in" with root permissions I have a solution whick I think might work for you. At first, remove /home/httpd/html directory (also you should make a backup copy of it, if it contains some site(s)). Then just try to reinstall apache (or whatever server you are using . After that, look at the permissions of the directory, and if you backed up your html folder as I said before, change the permissions of the backed up folder according to freshly created /home/httpd/html and move the files.
Hope I helped
