How do I get computers A and B to see each other?
From computer A when I 'ping 192.168.0.1' to see if it works on the same box it fails with 100% packet loss. Likewise on Computer B with 'ping 192.168.0.2'
I have the computers Ethernet features (on their respective motherboards MB) connected with an RJ-45. There is no router or switch.
Computer A (it has the printer)
Device: ath0 he wireless PCI Adapter, DHCP etc I use for the Internet
Device: eth0 the Ethernet feature on the MB that is connected to computer B
Protocol: static
IP Address: 192.168.0.1 (I made this up)
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Computer B
Device: ath0 he wireless PCI Adapter, DHCP etc I use for the Internet
Device: eth0 the Ethernet feature on the MB that is connected to computer A
Protocol: static
IP Address: 192.168.0.2 (I made this up)
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
I am sure it is something basic...
Thanks for you interest.

To connect 2 pc's you usually need a cross cable.
Look at the transparent part of the connector on the cable and check if you see 2 crossed wires.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
(A works at time B) && (time C > time B ) ≠ (A works at time C)
