Hi,
I just installed Arch (x86_64) on my new Dell Latitude D830 laptop. For the video driver, I installed xf86-video-intel v2.1.0-1 from testing.
The problem I'm getting is when I start X (whatever the way, but I'm using a runlevel 5) I cannot go back to a virtual terminal (tty), which worked before starting X. When doing ctrl+alt+FN, I get a black screen. Ctrl+alt+F7 gets me back correctly in X.
Any clues?
Thanx!
My hardware is :
Core 2 Duo T7300 @ 2GHz (Centrino Duo)
Intel X3100 (965GM)

I have had a similar problem a while back, and the solution for me was to add VGA=XXX to the kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst
XXX is the desired resolution for the terminal.

Thanx that made it.
It's quite strange that the terminals don't work if there's no fb...
