Displaying an already running application on another computer

Hey,

I have a home network containing 2 computers - a laptop and a desktop.

I want to run AMULE on the desktop computer, while still being able to sometimes see
and change its settings on the laptop.

I don't want to use VNC. Tried to use Freenx - but its not satisfying.

Any way to do that using X forwarding or whatever?
