swfdec-mozilla vs gnash

Any views?

I got gnash working.. not perfect but passable.

Never managed to get swfdec working in firefox though.. i have uninstalled it.

I don't use any lib32 libraries.

I personally prefer Swfdec to Gnash. Are you getting any errors on the command line when you run it?

32 bit libraries are unnecessary for both pieces of software.

Re: swfdec-mozilla vs gnash

I would also be interested in knowing what the advantages are with one over the other. I'm using gnash atm and it seems to be working fine.

Re: swfdec-mozilla vs gnash

From my experience, they both work about equally. I prefer Swfdec because it starts in a paused state, similar to Firefox's FlashBlock extention. I find most Flash to be inconvenient, so starting in a paused state is good for me.

Re: swfdec-mozilla vs gnash

i prefer gnash as it does not start paused; i find having to click things to make them work is a bit of a hassle. i also prefer it as it seems to have a larger following and developer base - but i may be wrong. i used to use swfdec; both function about the same for me - hopefully with time that will improve drastically.

Re: swfdec-mozilla vs gnash

I have gnash and flashblock, don't like flash either. The only thing is that Gnash doesn't play all flash videos correctly, and the buttons of the flash players out there just don't work (youtube for example)

Re: swfdec-mozilla vs gnash

The last upgrade of SwfDec introduced a bunch of functionality improvements. A lot of stuff that didn't work previously works really well now.
