Wireless router question

Hi -
I decided that I want to use wireless network with my laptop. Currently I have cable internet, but will move in 6 months to an area where I can only get ADSL. I don't want to invest in wireless router now, if I can't use it also at my new address - is it possible to get a wireless router that is compatible with both?
if so, are there any recommendations and things I should look out for as I am new to wireless?
thanks!

Re: Wireless router question

You need a router that has an ethernet WAN interface. This should work directly with your current cable service, and when you change to DSL, get a DSL modem with an ethernet interface.

Re: Wireless router question

thanks for your reply -
I must admit I'm confused because most wireless routers seem to specify they are either for cable or adsl. are you saying that as long as there is an ethernet interface, I can plug in either my cable modem (at present) or my adsl modem (in the future) and it will still work?

so, for example, can you tell me if something like this would do what I want?
thanks a lot.

Re: Wireless router question

yes, that's the kind of router you need.

The linksys WRT54GL is also a good option.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

(A works at time B)  && (time C > time B ) ≠  (A works at time C)
