Hey,
I use 2 different keyboard layouts as my native language is hebrew.
I have a strange idea:
Everyone who uses 2 different keyboard layouts know how irritating it is to mistakenly start
to type at the location line in the browser using the second layout, not english.
I was wondering if it is somehow possible to tell XORG someway that whenever the location bar is pressed, to
switch to the English layout.
Any ideas?
Tnx

If you use KDE, you can setup the Keyboard Layout - Switching Options - Switching Policy, to 'Application'.
so.. if you switch from a chat window to a firefox window, typing in the firefox window will be in the default layout

And if I don't use KDE (I just use awesome wm), can I set switching policy in xorg.conf, or I need to install something for this purpose?

There could be an application in the X Window System that notifies when certain windows are given focus. However, this may need to be a window manager that has selected for being notified of such events by applying the SubstructureRedirect mask to the root window – and there can only be one such running window manager on a display at any one time.
Sorry for not providing complete knowledge. I have been reading up on XCB in hope of being able to create my own window manager, but I find it very dry.
Scrap that. I have seen plenty of docks that are aware of what application currently has focus. I suspect that they are because the running window manager follow the EWMH standard.
