First post here! Second day on Arch.
I've got an USB network card to go with my laptop (pegasus II chip). It worked during install, but on my new configured system it will not load.
When I run:
/etc/rc.d/network restartI get the following error:
Error, eth1: ioctl SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory.Modprobing the module or running dhcpcd won't work either. Ifconfig doesn't show eth1.
Any ideas how to my network up and running so I can start learning pacman?
Please be patient, I'm a n00b...
(please move if not posted in the right place)

You should post the output from 'ifconfig -a' and 'dmesg | grep -C1 eth'. Also, the networking-related section of /etc/rc.conf. Oh, and if it's USB, maybe 'lsusb', too. ![]()

dmesg(thanks for that, didn't know the command) hinted me to a conflict between my eth0 and eth1 (wired(usb) and wireless(pcmcia) or vice versa). Taking out the (not supported by firmware) pcmcia card and banging out its entries/juggling around with the interfaces, got my usb interface up. I can now safely put the pcmcia card back in the slot. Now the only thing I have to do is getting both interfaces to work...
By the way: is there an easy way to get the outputs of the commands (on a command-line only system) you named (e.g. ifconfig -a) coppied into/outputted to a txt (or the like) file? Writing down the output and typing it in a browser on my desktop (MS box) is such a tedious job.

Bash basics, redirection in this case:
ifconfig -a > fileOffline
