Am I Insane? iwl4965 Problem

I've tried fruitlessly for two weeks to get connected to the WPA at work.  It's just not happening.  I started another thread about that but go no response.

anyway, with this laptop and the 4965 wireless network built into it, I can get on my home network BUT I have to run "iwlist scan" first.  I boot up and the network doesn't connect.  I have to either wait a few minutes for the network card to "come alive" or usually have to "force" it to come alive by doing an "iwlist scan".  I'm using network profiles and the iwl and iwl4965 stuff.  I'm loading mac80211 and iwl4965 in the rc.conf.  Am I missing something or is it this setup just not to the maturity level to be worried yet?

Have you tried wlassistant? I have had pretty good luck with it connecting to WPA or WEP networks. It's in AUR.

Try netcfg2. It does the iwlist scan.

Post exams, I'm going to complete it and merge it to [core].

Re: Am I Insane? iwl4965 Problem

I still can't get netcfg2 to connect to the WPA wireless at work.  I really have no freakin' clue how to make it connect.  Nothing works -- wpa_supplicant complains about everything, seems to connect for a second then die.  Other wireless networks are fine, but none have been WPA secured.

I have spent about 1/2 hour every day trying different things and this laptop NOR my other one will connect to this network no matter what I try.  I am really thinking it's the actual NETWORK here.  they use an Apple Airport Extreme or something and I can't make the dang think let me on.

Oh, well.  thanks anyway.

Re: Am I Insane? iwl4965 Problem

FYI, I also had problems with iwl3945 working only with one router on the two I have :
http://bughost.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1394

Not sure these problems are related though, so you could look there if there isn't already a bug reported for iwl4965 and Apple Airport Extreme.
If not, you could open a new one. Please don't comment on mine, since it could very well have nothing to do with it smile
