File sharing with Avahi (Gshare not starting)

I'm trying to get three home computers connected to each other using avahi (ZeroConf networking). The avahi page on the wiki says that I'm supposed to use gshare to set up file-sharing, but I am not able to get gshare started.
I have dbus running, and the avahi-daemon has been started, and the capability module has been loaded.
However, when I run gshared, all I get is this

I get this same error message even when I'm trying to run it as root.

I've tried, but have never been able to find the gshare home page, and can't find any working references to it anywhere.

1) Could someone help me out here? I have no idea how to get this thing working.
2) Does anyone have suggestions on what other programs I could use apart from gshare to get file-sharing on avahi?
