I've been used to browsing volumes over SSH using Konqueror -> remote:/ -> Add a netwrok folder -> SSH -> next, etc. However with my new Arch install it fails to connect to the server everytime.
For reference, the server I am trying to access is lab-cs1.cs.st-andrews.ac.uk with the username cjd44. If I open up a terminal & type sshcjd44@lab-cs1.cs.st-andrews.ac.uk I am prompted for my password & login is a success. If I then run pwd I get /cs/home/1st/cjd44. So I setup Konqueror as follows;
Name: CS lab
User: cjd44
Server: lab-cs1.cs.st-andrews.ac.uk
Port: 22
Folder: /cs/home/1st/cjd44
However when I click [Save & Connect] I get Unable to connect to server. Please check your settings & try again.
The only problem I can think of is that Konqueror doesn't like the SSH package that I am using; when I first got Arch running it didn't have the command ssh so I (think I) installed the package ssh2. Is this a problem?

fish://lab-cs1.cs.st-andrews.ac.uk seems to work.

Not for me
The process for the fish://lab-cs1.cs.st-andrews.ac.uk protocol died unexpectedly.
I'm guessing it must be a problem with Konqueror if I can log in via term?
Edit: Ah, fish wasn't installed So I installed it but still no luck. Is it a daemon that needs to be started at boot or similar?

Use sftp:// instead. Fish is just an evil hack for servers that do not support sftp. (sftp comes with openssh; its not the same as ftps!)

sftp does work in this instance, yes, but I would also like to have ssh working for servers that don't support ssh (there is at least 1 I use).

fish:// is broken since a couple of months. Theres some open bugs around (kdemod, gentoo, kernel, kde) about that but I suspect the work is on kde4 instead. I use sftp:// instead.
