Hello,
I have a vserver with opensuse but I dont like it, so I want to install an archlinux. But I dont know what to do because I can not change the kernel nor grub config because it's running on virtuozzo. Is there anywhere a howto for such a problem?
Thanks, Andreas

Why always nobody answers my questions?

I think in this case it's a safe bet there's nobody who has tried this before.
Though I'd be interested in some information about that topic as well. Didn't had the time to look into it myself, though.

Ok, I tried it... But I must give up at point 4 because of problems I don't know how to solve...
Goal: I wan't to replace Suse 9.3 on virtuozzo with arch.
# uname -a
Linux vs169092 2.6.9-023stab046.2-smp #1 SMP Mon Dec 10 15:04:55 MSK 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux0. save "ifconfig", "uname -a", "route", "/etc/resolv.conf", "mount" and "/etc/fstab" of actual system
1. download and build pacman (link to source of libdownload is broken) - I was not able to build pacman static because of linking errors...
2. create new dir /arch
3. install pacman and base to /arch - some packages install with error: "FATAL: kernel too old" - don't know if they were installed...
4. chroot to /arch - error: "FATAL: kernel too old" - did not chroot - GIVING UP!!!
5. configure the arch system with the saved files
6. boot the system in rescue mode
7. move the original suse to /suse
8. move the new arch to /
9. restart and hope it works...
Can anybody help me with the problems?
UPDATE:
I found that the glibc is too new - am I right that I must rebuild all packages if I downgrade glibc?

Ok, once again...
I installed an older release of arch - 0.7.2. Now the chroot worked.
...but when restarting nothing happens. The system don't boot.
I thought missing kernel modules are the problem, so I searched within the "normal" Suse system but there are also no kernel modules. Perhaps everything is build within the kernel.
I asked my hoster if they could help me, but they do not support other distros and don't can (want) help me.
Anybody an idea? If not I think I will give up...
