Can I set up an wireless access point with WPA suuport without hostapd

I am building my own wifi access point.

The wifi card I have is support by madwifi.

I do need WPA support because everybody knows that WEP is useless.

However, the only application I found can help me do this is "HOSTAPD"

However, it is not supported by Arch yet.

Do I have other options?
