QEMU internet security

I'm aware that when using QEMU with a bridged network connection it is important to think about security.

However, with the default networking (-net nic -net user), is there a need to run a firewall on the guest OS? As I understand it, the internet connection is basically using the existing real network through the host computer and is not visible on the network. It would then really not require a firewall right?

Re: QEMU internet security

You're right. The qemu manual has a nice picture and explanation.
