this has been discussed dozens of times. run a forum search. and check out the wiki.

yeah i have already read, applied it and i can see its effect in gnome and xfce but in openbox fonts are still ugly.

The link bionnaki had provided lists everything that needs to be done for the fonts in any wm (including openbox) to use the lcd smoothing. I use openbox as well and I have done nothing beyond what's in that wiki article.

first of all i am sorry for late reply coz i was out of the town.
i dont know guys what the problem is but you can see below screenshots and compare
(1)first openbox
now gnome
gnome fonts look more smooth and rich but open box fonts look ugly. Specially "/" symbol in address bar is like zigzag in openbox.
and one more thing if i log in to gnome and logout and log in to open box then every thing is right.
any clue.

are you using the same .font.conf & .gtkrc-2.0 in both?

thanks bionnaki for .font.conf hint i never had this file.i think xfce and gnome doesnt use it and it was not mentioned
in wiki so i googled it, found a thread in geentoo forums regarding configuration of this file.
Now i m enjoying subpixel smoothing in openbox.
and i m sorry if this silly problem wasted your time.
thanx buddy

I had similar problem with fonts in openbox, in all the occasions the blame was for hinting, because if i choosed hintslight = Slight, it appeard as same as Medium. Hinslight = none made fonts look very bold , as for full, they were too thin.
My preffered combination is :
DPI - 96dpi
Smoothing - Subpixel
Hiting - Slight
Subpixel order - RGB
