Apache2 question

I just installed apache2 (2.2.8-1) and I was surpised to see that it has the layout like apache 1.  For example, apache2 generally defaults to /var/www as the Document Root, whereas this version defaults to /home/http/html.  Also  the server root is /etc/httpd whereas usually it is /etc/apache2 and the service is called httpd when it is called apache2 on most other distros.

Also where is a2enmod.

Am I missing something here?  This doesn't really bother me that much, it is just odd to see the above.  I someone can clarify this, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Adam

Re: Apache2 question

The default directory is picked by the package maintainer, as is the configuration root.  As Arch made a clean cut from apache to apache2, they decided to keep /etc/httpd/ as the de facto.

As far as I can tell, a2enmod is not part of the apache2 server, but an add-on package for maintaining the httpd.conf.  I'm not sure if this tool would play nice with how Arch has the httpd.conf laid out, so I would recommend not trying them on a production server, and just commenting/uncommenting lines in the conf file itself.
