my router is not allowing vmware to access internet

I have vmware on my laptop which I use to test haiku and I can't seem to get on the internet. I also have vmware on my desktop which (go figure) works fantastic. So I think that narrows it down to some wireless issue with my router (linksys wrt54g). My laptop has vista on it and my desktop is arch (with gnome). any ideas would be appreciated.

On your laptop, are you bridging to the wireless interface ?
Because thats what does not work.
use NAT vmnet8 to connect with the Virtual Machine while on yourlaptop
