Hello all, new to Arch, not to Linux.
I just isntall Arch on my desktop that I am tripple booting with Vista and Linux Mint, I need to get the ATI drivers installed so I an enable 3d effects, (compiz and the like), have tried doing
pacman -S catalyst
but it doesnt seem to isntall the drivers, if open the the catalyst control center, it tells me that the drivers are not installed. I'm guessing I need to get the flgrx drivers installed, and then get the ATI working, but not sure how, I have looked around but can't seem to figure it out. I have an ATI HD2400Pro PCI:E card
Also, I would like to know the "Right" way to add repos to my list, as I would like to get Yaourt added to my system.
I have gotten Gnome installed and working properly, now I just have to get everything working so I can go through the process of learning a new distro
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Ok, I got the ATI drivers installed, now for compiz.
Yet another edit, I got compiz installed, works great, so I think I just need to know the right way to add repos, ie: what do I add, and where do they go?

I don't remember exactly how you do it, but it should be easy to find in the wiki
what I do remember is that you must add fglrx in the modules array in rc.conf, and
somwhere in xorg.conf. (allthough I'm not quite sure about the rc.conf part. I'm writing this from windows atm.
anyway, as I said, have a look in the wiki, it should tell you the right way.

I got the ATI drivers installed, got Compiz installed, all working great, even got ntfs-3g working right, really I think all I need to know for now, is how to "properly" add repos, where do they go, and what do I enter, (coming from a world of Debian, very easy there, but want to expand my Linux knowledge)

For yaourt, add the following lines to the bottom of your /etc/pacman.conf:
# for yaourt
[archlinuxfr]
Server = http://repo.archlinux.fr/i686

ty, now I know where and how to add the repos, but now I have a new problem, I'm trying to get some python stuff installed, and I'm getting this error
error: config file /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist, line 6: directive 'Server' not recognized.
This is what my mirror.list looks like
